CASology : Candle

HI there!

Candles are a wonderful element to create atmosphere, not only in our daily life, but also in design and more specific on cards!

So this week at CASology we want to see CANDLES!

Will it be birthday candles or Christmas candles?
Can you think of more ways to incorporate the cue in your design? I can't wait to see!

Our Sponsor this week , Kitty Bee Designs, had birthday candles in mind with this cute birthday bee:

A closer look:

I opened the image in my Silhouette studio, added a small offset and used the print and cut function to the image as is, as well as a mirror image .

The sentiment is also from the sponsor. The Silhouette program make positioning of all elements really easy.

I colored the cute bees with my Promarkers, and stenciled a soft BG using a hexagon stencil also cut with my Silhouette.

I used Hero arts shadow inks in Butter Bar and Soft Cantaloupe for the stenciling.

The Paper Players #323: A sketch by Sandy

Hi there!

I am so glad you popped in to take a look at the card I made for your inspiration over at The Paper Players !

A lovely versatile layout... Love it Sandy!

A closer look:

The sunflower bouquet is a design from Tanya Batrak : Design ID #150566 in the Silhouette store.

I used the cutting file as a digital stamp by using the black fill option, and applied a small offset to cut the outline. I colored the image with my Promarkers.

The thankful sentiment is also from the Silhouette store : Design ID #159823. 'For you' part is computer generated (Font : Dream Orphans)

The grid BG is from the Pixel Scrapper, you can find it here.

I found inspiration for my card from the following challenges:

Peace on earth

Hi there!

Time to join some inspirational challenges with a Christmas card!

Up close:

Another card combining my love for traditional card making methods using stamps as well as my Silhouette.

I used 2 stamps from the Natures Treasure from Uniko. The smallest leaf in the beak of the dove, and the largest outline leaf in the negative space of the circle.

I colored the large leaf with a Promarker (color - Pine). There's a Wink of Stella on those leaves...  not visible on the photo unfortunately. πŸ˜†

The dove was cut from a free clipart image found on the internet.
I finished off the card with 3 red enamel dots.

The sentiment is my own design, and I will share it below (2 versions).

CASology : Soft

Hi there!

Time for a new cue card at CASology !

Soft... where will the cue take you this week?

I incorporated the following elements to achieve a softer look:

  • A vellum feather (which looks more like a leaf when I look at it now 😲)
  • Soft partial embossing
  • Soft colors, browns/cream instead of my go to B&W

A closer look :

The sentiment is from the Silhouette online store Design ID #159823. I used the gradient fill option to print it.

The feather was a free file, but I am so sorry I don't have a link to share.

Roses, lace and pearls

Hi there!

The theme this week at Less is more is vintage, not a direction I often take, because I associate vintage with shabby chic and a layered style of cardmaking, not so much clean and simple.

... BUT... I do think that by carefully picking colors and elements, you can succeed in making a CAS card with the mentioned theme ☝

Also joining the Cas-ual Fridays team were the theme is thankful/gratitude.

altenew golden garden vintage style

For my card I used 3 stamps ranging from very old , NBUS, to the newest set in my stash.

  • Flower from Altenew Golden Garden.
  • Lace background stamp from Kaisercraft.
  • Sentiment from Avery Elle (Petals and stems set.)

I think I have used this background stamp only once before, a long time ago. I just couldn't get a good impression before. I used my Misti this time, and now I am so glad I didn't get rid of it, and I will
definitely use it again... and again. Except for my Silhouette πŸ˜„, the Misti was the best crafty purchase I have made ... ever! Worth every Dirham, Dollar or Pound!

The lace , sentiment and rose were stamped with Vintage photo distress ink on watercolor paper.
I just softened up the lines of the rose with a fine bristle paintbrush and water.

Added golden pearls as a finishing touch.

The Paper Players: A CAS Christmas challenge

Hi there!

With Christmas just a little more than a month away, we have just the challenge for you this week at The paper players !

My card :

A closer look:

Santa and his Merry Christmas sentiment is from Apex Cuttable designs.

I ungrouped the Santa and sentiment in the Silhouette studio, traced both the image and sentiment in order to

  1. change the colors of the sentiment from black to red and green
  2. change the Santa to a black and white line image suitable for coloring

I colored the Santa with Promarkers, popped the sentiment panel up on my card base, and finished off the card by adding the Santa.

Adding my link to the photo inspiration challenge at Addicted to stamps.

I hope to see you join the fun at The Paper Players!

Have a great Sunday!
